I’m delighted to say that our practice is having a lot of success in myopia management. Myopia (short-sightedness) is a condition of the eye when the person can see clearly close up, but distance vision is blurred. The more short-sighted you are the bigger the risk of certain eye problems like detached retinas or myopic maculopathy which may destroy the central vision.
Myopia management involves advice on screen use, time out of doors, working distances and other lifestyle features. There are also spectacle and contact lenses available which can slow down the progression of myopia (which tends to worsen as the child ages) which we’re finding very successful.

Sadly the previous puppy we helped sponsor from Guide Dogs had some mobility problems and had to be retired from Guide Dog training. So, we are now sponsoring the lovely Frank, who is making excellent progress.
How indeed? Children do not have the same visual refererences as adults and may put down difficulties with reading to their own inablity, rather than that they are having difficulties with vision.
